Commitment. We normally evaluate people on this value through their deliverables. However, there is an effective approach before that. My version below -
A friend that mostly turns up by 7pm instead of a decided time of 5 pm.
There are 3 basic ways, the value of adherence can be observed. Here’s how –
✔Communication. There is always a proactive step from genuinely interested people. They initiate, they connect, they communicate.
✔Attitude. In the citation above, the friend has a casual attitude. Usually, they are doubted on accountability & time management.
✔Language. Sincere people do not communicate in vague, unclear sentences.
Here's what I personally prefer as a part of my ‘responsible dialect’ and it has worked wonders for me.
“Let me get back to you by EOD” may be replaced by “Let me get back to you by 5 pm”
“Give me couple of days” may be replaced by “Allow me 3 days”
“I will join you in a bit” may be replaced by “Join you in 10”
“I will be reaching in sometime” may be replaced by “I will be reaching in 30 mins”
“Let’s talk later” may be replaced by “Let’s talk on Monday"
“Let’s connect after a few months” may be replaced by “Let’s connect by 15th July”
Any form of disclosure that reflects conviction, sincerity & responsibility never goes in vain
